Mercedes is getting out of the car business. The gas powered car business that is... They have committed to eliminating internal combustion engines from their fleet by 2015. Already they have made some pretty impressive electric cars and are pushing hard for fuel cell technology. This kind of innovation should be rewarded very nicely in the coming years. Assuming they stay true to their word and achieve results, they will have a leadership position in a hugely demanded market. If global oil production is expected to peak between 2011 and 2015 alternative modes of transportation will be a hot commodity, as fossil fuel prices will likely be incredibly high in that scenario.
Isn't it fitting that the company who invented the first 'horseless carriage' back in 1886 is going to be one of the first to put the fossil fuel powered vehicle to rest?
